Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth. When tooth is lost and a gap or gaps occur between teeth, the structure of the face could be changed, chewing may be difficult and painful and so this is used to replaces the lost teeth which would be of aesthetic as well as functional.
Dental bridges are constructed of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap these two anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth and a false tooth/teeth in between.
The materials used for the bridge include gold, porcelain fused to metal, or all-porcelain (ceramic) material. The amount and type of reduction done to the abutment teeth varies slightly with the different materials used. The most common bridge these days is made out of porcelain and spans three teeth.

| Dental Bridge Procedure : |
After numbing the area, the anchor teeth get prepared to ensure enough space for the fabrication of the retainer crowns.
Impressions are taken to be send away to a dental laboratory. These impressions will be used to make plaster models in order to fabricate the dental bridge
A temporary bridge / restoration is fitted to protect the naked anchor teeth until the next visit.
The temporary bridge is taken off and the new dental bridge is fitted.
